Volleyball teams are off to an average start
Coach notes individual improvement
By Jennifer D.
So far this season, the sixth and seventh grade girls volleyball team have won two games, and lost one. The eighth grade girls have a record of 0 and 3, and the boys team has won one game and lost two.
Despite the teams' mixed records, Coach Krisik is pleased with the improvement she has seen in some of the new players.
She explained that it had been difficult picking the teams. Players were chosen on the basis of their skill, attitude and coachability.
Ms. Krisik also singled out eighth graders, Brianna C. and Bobby E., and seventh graders, James D. and Stephanie C. as some of the most talented and hard-working players.
Peacock's competition was very stiff, and the games were usually close scoring, Ms. Krisik further explained.
Seventh grader, Tracy A., said that her best skills on the court were passing, spiking, and serving. Tracy said that she practiced whenever she could. Her favorite things about volleyball were the fact that it's so exciting, and that she got to be with her friends.
Tracy also commented that she would like to continue to play volleyball in high-school. Tracy's classmate, Sarah Z., said that this was her second year playing volleyball, and that she really liked it.
Sarah also hopes to play at Lake Park. She said that she wanted to be one of the best players on the team there. She also said that she was hoping to play in the off-season.
According to Sarah, she appreciated the fact that the Peacock volleyball coaches were nice and fun to be with, and that they didn't make you run a lot.
